    The Position

    Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.

     

    Incumbents administer one or more programs or a major component of a large, complex program which affects a more targeted number of customers or clients; revise, recommend, and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements.

     

    This position is located in our Reno DMV Office, within the Field Services Division, Training Unit. This recruitment will be used to underfill the Program Officer 3. The Program Officer 2 will manage and instruct the DMV New Hire Academy, providing training on federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to motor vehicle registration, titling, and driver licensing, as well as daily guidance and technical support for students. The Program Officer will assist with student performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, supervise a Program Officer by assigning and directing work, resolving employee issues, implementing discipline when necessary, ensuring compliance with policies and training requirements, and providing timely annual evaluations. Additional duties include reviewing and certifying timesheets, preparing reports, updating training modules to reflect policy and regulation changes, and becoming the authorized facilitator for the Certified Drive Examiner and Certified Motorcycle Examiner programs. Under the authority of NRS 239B.010.1(b), the DMV utilizes NRS 205.4605 - 205.810, NRS 293.504, NRS 293.5045, 6 CFR 37.45, 49 CFR 1572.103, and 49 CFR 384.228 as criteria to obtain a FBI fingerprint clearance check on current and prospective employees.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment and one year of professional experience in planning, coordinating and administering a program which included interpretation of laws and regulations; development of program policy and procedures; development and implementation of program performance standards and objectives for providing services; and development and implementation of eligibility requirements; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
