    Job Summary:

    JOB SUMMARY

    Assists customers in the selection of frames and other optical needs under occasional guidance. Assists in promoting the services of the department. Collaborates with the manager to market programs and products both internally and externally. Provides leadership and serves as an expert role model in daily business operations including educating/training others on skills and knowledge related to this job role.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists customers in the optical shop; assists with selection of products and all other optical needs; fit, repair, and dispense eyewear.

    • Maintains order and stock; properly document all transactions (sales, accounts receivable, returns, defects, warranties, etc.).

    • Oversees and collaborates with manager to ensure all business functions are completed timely and efficiently.

    • Ensures proper and accurate EPIC system utilization (check-in, check-out, and batching).

    • Ensures proper Star Panel documentation and process. Serve as leader/role model to dispensing opticians in this area of job role.

    • Interacts with the patient in a professional manner using AIDET techniques; serve as a role model/leader in patient interactions.

    • Leads team in maintaining a clean and organized sales floor and lab; ensure proper product cleanliness and placement; and EOC guidelines. Accountable to manager for final EOC outcomes.

    TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

    • Ophthalmic Disorders (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying knowledge/care of ophthalmic disorders in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers ophthalmic disorders services in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums. Contributes in the development of ophthalmic disorders best practices for the organization.

    • Customer Service (Intermediate): Keeps management informed on all aspects of one or more projects. Takes personal responsibility to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction is met despite pressures and/or significant obstacles. Discusses options with customer for alternative ways to meet expectations cost-effectively and efficiently. Commands respect and confidence from customers, and identifies, influences and creates business opportunities. Negotiates with customers for changes in service levels, understanding the business rationale for those changes. Deals with unexpected customer demands smoothly and without conflict.

    • Optical Prescription Fulfillment & Dispensing (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery of prescription fulfillment in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering prescriptions without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
