Job Description:
The Outdoor & Recreation Segment of Newell Brands is seeking a Sr. Manager, Brand Finance to support our Coleman® brand. The role is global with additional support to the domestic go-to-market team. The Sr. Manager, Finance works cross functionally with Brand Management, Market Development and Planning, Sales and Supply Chain teams on innovation, activation, and commercialization activities to drive profitable growth. The role is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Outdoor & Recreation is an omni-channel business that competes across diverse product categories including active lifestyle products for outdoor activities, technical apparel, and on-the-go beverageware. These products are sold through various go-to-market channels including mass merchandisers, eCommerce, wholesale clubs, outdoor specialists, and owned direct-to-consumer sites.
This position will report to the Vice President, Finance of Outdoor & Recreation and provide critical finance and commercial support to the business. This will include owning global brand P&Ls; innovation support; working capital management; monthly performance analysis; planning & forecasting; advertising & promotion effectiveness; pricing and gross margin optimization analysis. This person will primarily support the Brand Management team but will also have significant input into decisions with our go-to-market channel strategy, helping the organization make profitable, fact-based decisions. This position will provide insights into current processes, recommend areas for improvement and be proactive in creating tools that will drive improved decision making.
Primary Responsibilities
+ Support global P&L review with cross functional teams, provide profitability insights to drive profitable growth and mitigate risk.
+ Analyze global results by providing explanations on key P&L drivers for the period vs. forecast, budget and prior year including customer and product volume/mix, trade spend and advertising and promotions.
+ Prepare and consolidate monthly forecast, annual budget, and strategic plans, working closely with Brand Management, Market Development and Planning, Sales and Supply Chain
+ Analyze proposed advertising, promotional spending and other activation investments with pre- and post-activity ROI analytics to help inform current and future decisions.
+ Support commercialization and go-to-market analysis and controls trade rate investment.
+ Partner with cross-functional teams to monitor the brand/category marketplace including Newell POS performance, market share, and category growth trends. Recommend actions based upon insights from trends.
+ Work in conjunction with Brand Management and Customer Planning & Strategy to establish MSRP and category pricing based on market conditions, brand strength, product benefits, cost inputs and the competitive landscape.
+ Support the New Product Development process (Innovation and Renovation) working with cross functional stakeholders including Brand Management, Consumer Insights, Market Development and Planning, Sales and Supply Chain.
+ Activities include developing forecasts, preparing financials, calculating project return metrics, analyzing changes versus previous updates.
+ Optimize portfolio assortment based upon SKU level performance, innovation plans and market trends and recommend enhancements to the assortment.
+ Provide thought leadership and analytical rigor to support profitable growth strategies at a product and/or brand level.
+ Optimize gross margin based upon pricing, mix management, cost improvement and innovation.
+ Liaise with Operations Finance to summarize impacts of standard costs and manufacturing variances for historical, current, and future key material costs.
+ Support managing and optimizing working capital including inventory. This includes portfolio optimization, establishing product life-cycle expectations, and monitoring excess and obsolete inventory and establishing sell-through recommendations.
+ Foster positive and collaborative relationships within finance team, cross-functional and regional leadership.
+ Identify operating or capability gaps, and lead improvement projects, partnering with key stakeholders.
+ Ensure ongoing governance, control, and compliance with both corporate and external procedures and audits.
Qualifications And Experience Preferred For This Role
+ Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field of study, master’s degree preferred
+ Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
+ Consumer goods background preferred with broad based financial acumen (brand, commercial, sales, operations, and FP&A).
+ Strong working knowledge of project valuation, volume/price/mix analysis, trade promotions and advertising and promotional spend.
+ Comfortable working with and synthesizing large amounts of data.
+ Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal communication.
+ Ability to operate with a consumer-focused mindset to partner and collaborate achieving a common goal with cross functional business partners.
+ Results driven behavior acting with a sense of urgency and with the ability to recommend and make decisions quickly.
+ Ability to improve processes and apply continuous improvement-mindset to day-to-day activities.
+ Ability to learn new financial information systems and data and to work between various IT systems efficiently and accurately.
+ Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy.
+ Advanced Excel skills, highly analytical and detail oriented.
+ Experience with Hyperion (HFM), SAP (ECC) and Power BI.
