Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our client's preconstruction team in Raleigh, NC. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about civil construction and looking to grow their career in estimating and project planning.

As a Junior Estimator, you will support senior estimators by reviewing blueprints and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and assisting in the preparation of accurate and competitive bids for heavy civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Review project drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand project scope and requirements.

+ Perform quantity takeoffs and material estimates using digital takeoff tools and estimating software.

+ Assist in preparing cost estimates and bid packages for heavy civil projects (earthwork, utilities, roadwork, structures, etc.).

+ Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.

+ Maintain organized and up-to-date estimate files, historical data, and pricing information.

+ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other estimators to ensure accurate scope coverage.

+ Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed to better understand project conditions.

+ Monitor industry trends, unit costs, and construction methods to improve estimate accuracy.

Qualifications:

+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

+ 0–2 years of experience in estimating or project support, preferably in heavy civil construction.

+ Familiarity with reading construction drawings and specifications.

+ Basic knowledge of civil construction means, methods, and materials.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus.

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

+ Willingness to learn and grow in a team-oriented environment.
