    FSQA Assistant Manager – Help Safeguard Every Bite!

Join Whitsons as an FSQA Assistant Manager and play a critical role in ensuring every product that leaves our culinary center meets the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and excellence.

     

    With your eye for detail and knowledge of food safety systems, you'll be an essential part of a team that puts safety, integrity, and care first—because at Whitsons, every meal matters.

    What You’ll Do:

    + Support day-to-day food safety, sanitation, and quality systems across the culinary center

    + Implement and maintain HACCP plans, GMPs, SOPs, sanitation programs, and audit protocols

    + Conduct regular inspections, internal audits, pre-op, and environmental sampling

    + Partner with the QA team to ensure readiness for USDA, FDA, DOH, and third-party inspections

    + Drive accountability by documenting findings, issuing corrective actions, and coaching staff

    + Train team members on food handling safety, hygiene, and FSQA standards

    + Maintain accurate records: temperature logs, cleaning schedules, audit reports, and more

    + Stay current on industry trends and food safety technologies to support ongoing improvement

    What We’re Looking For:

    + 2+ years of experience in food safety, QA/QC, or regulatory compliance in a food production environment

    + Experience with HACCP programs, USDA inspections, and third-party audit processes

    + Working knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, GFSI, DOH)

    + Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office and QA systems; bilingual (Spanish) preferred

    + Effective communicator with the ability to lead, coach, and influence across departments

    + HACCP certification required; Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field preferred

    Requirements

    Education :

    + Bachelor’s degree in food or related sciences

    Certifications :

    + HACCP certification

    Computer Skills :

    + Proficient with all computer applications in order to perform the job

    Other Qualifications, Experience :

    + Minimum 2 years’ experience as a QA Supervisor in a high-speed multi product lines facility, preferably USDA inspected.

    + Experience with creating and managing a HACCP Program.

    + Experience in a complex (Union) operational environment

    + Ability to mentor and build strong teams while effecting a positive culture change

    + Must be Self-motivated, have a strong sense of urgency and a bias for action

    + Must be flexible in challenging and complex work environment while firmly maintaining compliance and upholding standards

    + Excellent verbal and written communications skill. Knowledge of Spanish is preferable.

    + Ability to conceptualize practical quality and safety solutions to complex operational systems.

    + Proven ability to maintain integrity in a fast paced and challenging environment

    + Ability to analyze and process high volumes of information; manage priorities; follow through

    + While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required Sit, walk, talk and hear

    + Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.

    + Be standing on feet majority of the workday in addition to walking back and forth.

    + Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.

    + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends, travel to multiple work sites and occasional out-of-state travel.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    + The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas

    + Standing most of the workday is required.

    + Work requires movement in and out of storerooms, near heavy machinery and freezers

    + Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.

    + The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
