    To be determined. Number of hours/week will be based upon the Federal Work-Study award amount, the hourly rate, and the award period.     Job Summary

    **Dr. Jorie Butler’s Lab**at the University of Utah is seeking a student Work-Study who demonstrates attention to detail, follow through and effective communication.

     

    The Butler Lab is focused on sociotechnical questions tackling complex problems in Biomedical Informatics. Complex problems include clinical decision making, and informatics implementation (including of Augmented Intelligence-enabled and Artificial Intelligence solutions) and the relational and contextual factors associated with patient centered care, age-friendly care, shared decision making and food insecurity.

     

    The Work Study – Staff Research Assistant will perform varied support functions, including study participant relations, working with patients and clinicians, and building a strong foundation for other lab team members to further this important research.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    1. Recruits participants for studies via email, text, phone call. Responsible for collecting data, supporting study participants, and following protocols and standard operating procedures.

    2. Enters information into department’s computer system.

    3. Assists research employees in preparing manuscripts and presentation materials.

    4. Maintains up to date files and records of research data.

    5. Searches scientific literature and compiles summaries of prior research related to current studies.

    6. Attends lab meetings and communicates regularly with other lab team members.

    7. Assists with quality control of data.

    8. Assists in the development of standard operating procedures.

    9. Schedules appointments, visits, and meetings.

    Minimum Qualifications

    One year research experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated organizational and communication skills; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. An understanding of research protocols and procedures preferred.

     

    This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
