Job Requirements:
The R&D Training and Safety Specialist will be responsible for the development, execution, and maintenance of technical training and safety curriculum for the global R&D workforce with a hyperfocus on labs located in Tonawanda, NY and Rochester, NH.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Executes the R&D training program comprised of initial training, recurring training, and evaluation of R&D employees for proficiency in specified R&D tasks
+ Develops and Maintains Safety and Compliance standards within the team in a proactive and collaborative approach, through systems, training and collaboration
+ Conducts individual training needs assessments by collecting information on new hire and tenured employee skillsets
+ Creates and maintains technical training programs according to R&D requirements
+ Provides training schedules and agendas
+ Determines course content and objectives
+ Determines system utilization requirements by researching and testing systems
+ Evaluates technical employees’ proficiency levels with various equipment, software, etc. and supports them in closing any identified knowledge and skill gaps
+ Prepares training materials and facilitates sessions in the most appropriate learning format (e.g. group vs individual, on-demand vs live)
+ Develops employee proficiency standards to ensure training and employee retention occurs at a high level
+ Tracks and reports data on completed courses, issues, and absences
+ Determines overall effectiveness of programs and trainings by listening to feedback, assessing results of proficiency measures and making improvements as necessary
+ Recruits and onboards new technical trainers
+ Maintains personal technical knowledge through professional development (e.g. attending educational workshops and reviewing publications)
+ Manages external training vendor/s on day-to-day and strategic matters as necessary for content development
+ Collaborates with relevant cross functional partners on content creation and delivery for both onboarding and ongoing training needs (e.g. Safety, HR)
Qualifications / Skills / Professional Attributes:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
+ At least 3 years’ experience as a technical trainer, training specialist, or similar role
+ At least 5 years hands on experience working chemistry/materials laboratory
+ Previous Safety and Compliance Experience
+ Specialized knowledge of specialty materials industry
+ Working knowledge of e-learning platforms / learning management systems
+ Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
+ “See it, own it, do it.” Identifies actions and needs, then works to implement resolution. Action-oriented.
+ Good team member; collaborative approach to Safety and Training
+ Strong teaching and mentoring experience
+ Great communication and interpersonal skills
+ Willing to travel up to 25% in order support global sites
+ Professional technical training certification (preferred)
Salary Range: $68,100 - $85,125 annually depending on qualifications
