WSP is currently initiating a search for a part time **Senior R&D Oil& Gas Laboratory Subject Matter Expert (SME)** based out of our Houston, Texas office. The role will primarily be focused on supporting laboratory design and construction projects for our O&G industry clients. The Senior SME will provide oversight and expertise throughout all phases of the project from inception to completion. The Senior SME will focus on communicating and coordinating the client requirements and other stakeholders with the design and construction teams to ensure effective design and construction processes and successful project results. This position has the potential to grow to provide support to other clients with similar projects. Your Impact

_Responsibilities:_

+ Engage and communicate with clients, end users, internal / external team members, and partners to ensure alignment with contract requirements.

+ Advise the team on implementation of best practices, industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements for reliable and accurate laboratory design and construction.

+ Collaboratively, work with the client and WSP team members to provide technical excellence to the design and construction process and continuous improvement within the project.

+ Provide advice as the SME by identifying equipment required for analytical methods, laboratory testing, and data interpretation.

+ Advise the project team on improving the efficiency of the facility and sub compartments to enhance efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance within the laboratory.

+ Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants, in-house and outside consultants to review scope adjustments and recommend actions as needed to complete the project.

+ Support proposal preparation efforts.

+ Attend meetings and related industry events as needed.

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in science & engineering or related to scientific discipline with 12+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in Science & Engineering minimum or related to scientific discipline with 10+ years of relevant laboratory experience

+ A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders

+ Proven experience of laboratory facilities, preferably with a focus on owner representation

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications

+ Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Engineer

+ PhD degree in Science & Engineering or related to scientific discipline
