    Position Summary

    Heath Ceramics is seeking a dynamic Design Manager to join our team. This role supports product design and retail interior projects, collaborating closely with our Product Development, Manufacturing, Creative, Operations, and Sales teams. We seek an experienced collaborator with a background in design, who drives consensus and guides diverse stakeholders through a process, and is eager to drive a wide variety of projects.

     

    This is a temporary role to cover a leave on our Creative team, roughly from August 2025 through April 2026.

    Position Responsibilities

    + Provide general project management support for product design projects across dinnerware, tile, and 3rd party products. Creating and tracking timelines, maintaining documentation, informing and coordinating across internal departments and externally.

    + Facilitate collaborative product or partnership-based projects, from initial vetting of opportunity through delivery. Connect internal and external teams and stakeholders, and in some cases provide design support or other basic visualization methods to aid collaboration.

    + Write briefs for new projects to align scope, goals, and timeline for the team.

    + Guide Visual Merchandising focuses for Heath showrooms—liaise between VM manager and creative team activities to ensure alignment.

    + Guide Third Party Product purchasing—liaise between Buyer and creative team activities to ensure alignment.

    + Vet and facilitate custom tile or dinnerware projects collaboratively with retail and production teams; provide light design and visualization support to shape the project and planning.

    + Oversee the workplans for the product design and development team to align with project priorities.

    Qualifications

    + BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

    + 5+ years experience in project and program management, ideally with a focus on physical product development

    + An alignment to Heath’s values of sustainability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and preservation of craft

    + Exceptional attention to detail, and the capacity to develop an understanding of when to pursue perfection and when good is good enough

    + Excellent communication and organizational skills

    + Excellent written English

    + Passion for process, innovation, and design

    + Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at different sizes and durations simultaneously

    + Takes direction openly and positively, and is very detail oriented

    + Experience with Asana, Google Suite, Figma

    Nice to have:

    + Product design or product development experience (beyond project management)

    + Experience with or interest in various project management methodologies

    + Experience with brick-and-mortar and e-commerce retail businesses.

    + Experience with businesses who manufacture their own products.

    Work Environment, Hours, & Compensation

    This is a full-time, hourly and temporary position, working Monday through Friday normal business hours. While we embrace a hybrid work model, in-person collaboration is a valued part of our culture. This role will need to work from our San Francisco and Sausalito offices three days a week. Up to two remote workdays per week are available. The hourly range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00, based on experience.
