    This position exists to provide range, road and area maintenance at Camp Ripley.

    Minimum Qualifications

    - Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.

     

    - Knowledge and the ability to operate Ag tractors, skid steers, dump trucks, front-end loaders, etc.

     

    - Ability to make simple sketches and computations of material and labor costs to complete project.

     

    - Ability to perform work functions using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.

     

    - Ability to safely operate and perform preventive maintenance on the following: maintenance vehicles (trucks, skid steers, road maintenance equipment, etc.), power and hand tools.

     

    - Ability to follow oral and written instructions; provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.

     

    - Knowledge and the ability to conduct snow removal.

     

    - Knowledge and the ability to maintain fences.

     

    - Must pass a criminal background check and obtain a Common Access Card.

     

    - Must possess a valid Minnesota Class A driver’s license.

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Remove snow in an efficient manner with heavy equipment, knowing where to remove snow first and how to

     

    interact with other heavy equipment and with privately owned vehicles.

     

    - Check equipment before, during and after operation as prescribed by Military Maintenance Manual.

     

    - Operate railroad switches, clear all railroad crossing and switches

     

    - Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on all equipment and tools.

     

    - Listens for unusual noises or unusual conditions and reports same to mechanic.

     

    - Respond to uncontrolled burns and control burn live fire ranges to reduce hazardous fuels to keep ranges safe

     

    to operate and must meet the National Wildfire Coordinating Group Standards for the wild land and prescribed

     

    fire qualifier system.

     

    - Respond to and clean up hazardous spills and meet training requirements set by the Post Commander and

     

    HAZWOPER Training Course.

     

    - Place signs, clean culverts, patch blacktop and perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

     

    - Repair right-of-way fencing, emplacements on ranges and similar fixed objects utilizing hand and power tools.

     

    - Ability to follow oral and written instructions; provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.

    Operate and maintenance for the following equipment is desirable:

    - Trucks of all types and sizes

     

    - Rough terrain and regular forklifts

     

    - Farm tractors

     

    - CTL with attachments

     

    - Chainsaws and brush saws

     

    - Power post hole augers

     

    - Front end loaders

     

    - Cutting torches, welders and plasma cutters

     

    - Wildland Fire Certification

     

    - Faller B

    Physical Requirements

    - Position requires lifting objects up to 50 pounds and frequently lifting/carrying objects such as heavy tools, ladders and equipment. Job may require walking or standing to a significant degree on rough terrain and may involve sitting, crawling, bending and stooping with pushing and pulling of arms and/or leg controls. Ability to work in an environment which may include exposure to dust, noise, heat, moisture and adverse weather conditions such as heat, cold, snow, rain and/or wind.
