Primary Purpose
The Communications & Engagement Manager will use strong strategic communications and writing skills to support the continued establishment of Exelon as a leading voice among our industry and general business, both externally and internally, on issues of importance (such as affordability, grid reliability, transformation of the energy industry, climate change/electrification, energy equity, workforce development and customer empowerment), utilizing executive visibility platforms and plans for senior executives, such as the President and CEO; the Chief Legal Officer; the Chief Financial Officer and other executive leaders as needed. The Manager will stay abreast of industry and related developments and trends, building proactive and innovative messages into communications initiatives, narratives and events that shape the company's reputation as a trusted expert on topics important to our industry and communities in collaboration with Exelon's Communications and Marketing team. This role reports to the Director, Executive Engagement. The Manager will be a primary point of contact on all things editorial-related, and will be responsible for writing and editing speeches, op-eds, blog posts, talking points, letters and other written communications pieces on a variety of issues, in alignment with Exelon's North Stars and enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
Primary Duties
+ Writes speeches, scripts, editorial copy, remarks and talking points for various external and internal audiences, ensuring senior leaders' voices are captured in all speechwriting, press releases, internal communications, op-eds, blog posts, earnings materials, social media messaging, video and significant event scripts. (25%)
+ Prepares thorough briefing materials for senior executives to speak or appear at events promoting strategic priorities and positioning of Exelon (25%)
+ Responsible for drafting engagement, thought leadership and social media communications directly, or reviewing such materials provided by Communications or other departments. Serves as a critical set of eyes on work developed in collaboration with Communications before it is released internally and externally. (20%)
+ In conjunction with Exelon's strategic priorities and community leadership needs, conducts meetings and interviews with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the development of speech schedules, review and delivery dates, intended audience, issues and topics to be addressed as well as other points of emphasis (10%)
+ Responsible for conducting research on topics, source interviews, writing and editing of content for a variety of communications- and business needs. (10%)
+ Generates ideas for content from large and complex articles to relatively simple items - and produces others as assigned (10%)
Job Scope
+ Position reports to the Director, Executive Engagement, Exelon.
+ Position is full-time and based in either Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD. or Chicago, IL.
+ Requires ability to travel.
+ Requires ability to work extended hours in evenings and/or weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.
+ At least 7 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, and technical organization. Excellent writing, copy-editing and proofing skills; experience writing for multiple audiences and platforms.
+ Excellent interpersonal communications. Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
+ Strong organizational skills to effectively manage resources and the execution of multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
+ An intuitive and highly strategic thinker; ability to meet deadlines, establish clear priorities quickly and bring projects to completion on time and within budget.
+ A proven history of working effectively under pressure and handling a heavy workload.
+ Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complex issues to various stakeholders.
+ Strong intellectual capacity; an adaptive learner. Strong presentation skills.
+ A self-starter who is confident, able to multi-task, and works with a sense of urgency in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. Individual must possess exceptional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills and can work within a family of companies to support an integrated engagement and communications strategy.
+ In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

+ Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $103,200.00/Yr. – $141,900.00/Yr.
