Director, Defense

Job Purpose: Dynamic Aviation is seeking a results-driven and strategic leader to serve as Director of the Defense Business Unit. This individual will oversee all aspects of the Defense Business Unit, which primarily focuses on contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The Director will be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring operational excellence, maintaining compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, and fostering strong relationships with government and military stakeholders.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Director will play a critical role in shaping the company's long-term strategy and ensuring the Defense Business Unit delivers exceptional results that align with the organization's mission and vision.

Job Duties:

Strategic Leadership:

+ Develop and execute the strategic vision and business plan for the Defense Business Unit, aligning with the company's overall goals.

+ Identify growth opportunities within the defense sector, including new markets, capabilities, and partnerships.

+ Provide thought leadership and insights on trends, policies, and emerging needs within the defense aviation industry.

Business Development:

+ Lead efforts to secure new contracts and renew existing ones with the U.S. Department of Defense and other relevant defense agencies.

+ Build and maintain strong relationships with key government decision-makers, military leaders, and industry partners.

+ Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and government meetings to promote Dynamic Aviation's capabilities and solutions.

Operational Excellence:

+ Oversee the planning, execution, and management of all defense-related operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

+ Ensure compliance with all government regulations, contractual obligations, and company policies.

+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability across defense programs.

+ Utilize Lean principles and Lean Six Sigma methodologies, to drive continuous process improvement, foster alignment across teams, and enhance operational efficiencies. By optimizing processes, eliminating waste, and enhancing quality, Dynamic Aviation is committed to delivering exceptional results and exceeding customer expectations in a competitive business environment.

Financial Management:

+ Develop and manage the Defense Business Unit's budget, including revenue forecasts, expense controls, and profitability targets.

+ Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary to meet or exceed financial goals.

+ Provide regular updates to the CEO and board on the unit's financial and operational performance.

Team Leadership:

+ Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of managers, program leaders, and support staff.

+ Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the Defense Business Unit.

+ Mentor and develop talent, ensuring succession planning and leadership development within the team.

+ Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in the defense, aviation, or aerospace industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

+ Proven track record of managing large, complex defense contracts and programs.

+ Experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense or other military organizations is highly preferred.

+ Deep understanding of defense contracting processes, regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS), and compliance requirements.

+ Strong business development skills, including experience in proposal development, contract negotiation, and relationship management.

+ Excellent financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and P&L responsibilities.

+ Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a history of motivating and developing high-performing teams.
