We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Kansas City, Missouri. This role requires a skilled individual who excels in financial management and accounting practices, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all reporting. Responsibilities:
• Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks.
• Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger accounts, and reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
• Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Assist with financial statement audits by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking and recording acquisitions and disposals.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances, providing insights to support decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with US accounting standards and internal policies.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Vice President of Accounting and Finance on strategic initiatives and reporting.
• Implement adjustments to journal entries as needed to maintain accurate financial records.
• Support accrual accounting processes, ensuring proper recognition of revenue and expenses.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior or supervisory role.
• Strong proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance.
• Demonstrated expertise in journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with US accounting standards and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in fixed asset accounting and accrual accounting practices.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
