Description
An Ambulatory Surgery Center in Los Angeles is in the need of an experienced Surgery Medical Coder. The Surgery Medical Coder will be focusing on ambulatory surgery coding and collections. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in surgical coding and demonstrate expertise in resolving coding-related issues.
Responsibilities:
• Perform accurate coding for surgical procedures, ensuring compliance with ICD-10 and CPT coding standards.
• Review and manage coding-related denials, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Collaborate with providers to handle pre-coded documentation and address any discrepancies.
• Manage collections related to coding issues, including follow-through on denied claims.
• Work with ambulatory surgery coding tasks, focusing on outpatient procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding regulations and standards.
• Provide expertise in mapping systems and resolving coding-related challenges.
• Ensure timely and precise documentation for all coding activities.
• Adapt to flexible workloads, efficiently handling tasks with varying volumes.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on surgical procedures.
• Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
• Strong understanding of outpatient and ambulatory surgery coding.
• Familiarity with handling coding-related denials and collections.
• Ability to work onsite in Los Angeles, California.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
