    Description

    Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Inventory Reconciliation Analyst / Accountant to assist one of our retail clients with a large-scale cleanup and reconciliation of consignment inventory data across multiple vendors. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of inventory records between vendor reports, internal systems and Microsoft D365 where a legacy system issue is currently affecting consignment functionality. You will be responsible for analyzing data from approximately 100 vendors, each providing reports in various formats and comparing this to the internal system output. The goal is to identify discrepancies, standardize the comparison process in Excel and provide clear findings to the internal team for system-level investigation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Receive and review consignment inventory reports from 50+ vendors; interpret each format.

    + Download and extract corresponding inventory data from Microsoft D365.

    + Normalize, reformat and organize vendor and internal data in Excel for effective comparison.

    + Use tools such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables to identify differences between vendor records and internal inventory.

    + Summarize discrepancies in a clear, actionable format and communicate findings to the internal system expert for deeper investigation.

    + Assist in building a repeatable process for reconciling consignment data going forward.

    + Support inventory validation efforts without the need to go far back historically focusing on current on-hand items.

    Ideal Candidate:

    You enjoy working in Excel and solving puzzles through data. You’re comfortable navigating messy or incomplete information and turning it into clarity. You don’t need perfect systems - you can build order through analysis and strong documentation. If you've worked with consignment or complex inventory reconciliation in the past that's a huge plus.

    Requirements

    Requirements:

    + Ability to work fully onsite (40 hours but hourly schedule is flexible - can start any time between 6am and 9am)

    + 3+ years of experience in inventory reconciliation, data analysis or a similar role.

    + Advanced Excel skills required: strong proficiency in VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data cleansing, and cross-referencing large datasets.

    + Familiarity with Microsoft D365 is strongly preferred; ability to work with system exports and navigate supporting tools.

    + Proven ability to work with varied data formats and transform unstructured reports into usable standardized datasets.

    + Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and comfort working independently with minimal direction.

    + Excellent communication skills - ability to clearly explain variances and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with inventory accounting or consignment processes.

    + Prior exposure to ERP system transitions or troubleshooting custom modules/add-ons.

    + Background in working with high SKU volume or multi-vendor inventory environments.
