Job Title: Director of Internal Audit
Industry: Publicly Traded Company
Travel: 1–2 nights per month
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Internal Audit to lead and strengthen our internal audit function. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to executive management. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in internal controls, risk management, and public company compliance, with a strong foundation in SEC reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
+ Develop, execute, and oversee the internal audit strategy and annual audit plan
+ Lead audits across operational, financial, IT, and compliance areas
+ Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and SOX requirements
+ Work closely with the Audit Committee, external auditors, and senior leadership to identify and mitigate risk
+ Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to stakeholders
+ Manage and mentor internal audit staff and third-party resources
+ Conduct special investigations and ad hoc reviews as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
+ Minimum 5 years of recent public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 or large national/regional firm
+ Strong knowledge of SEC regulations and public company audit standards
+ CPA preferred
+ Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills
+ Ability to travel 1–2 nights per month
+ Must be fully onsite in Lexington, KY
