    Robert Half Accountemps (Madison Heights, MI)


    Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Madison Heights, Michigan. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrate a proactive attitude, and have a solid understanding of accounting principles.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.

    • Perform regular bank reconciliations, covering multiple accounts on a monthly and semi-annual basis.

    • Prepare and input physical inventory data, maintaining accurate cycle count reports.

    • Review and approve employee expense reports, verifying correct categorization and ensuring compliance.

    • Reconcile general ledger accounts and process journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

    • Upload new items created in P21 Avatax on a monthly basis, ensuring consistent data management.

    • Address sales tax and corporate tax-related tasks, including preparation and compliance activities.

    • Support tax return processes for corporate filings, ensuring adherence to regulations.

    • Identify and resolve accounting irregularities, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving. Requirements • Proven knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks and familiarity with accounts payable and receivable operations.

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address discrepancies effectively.

    • Experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger account management.

    • Familiarity with corporate tax processes, including sales tax and tax return preparation.

    • Ability to handle journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.

    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

    • Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
