Description Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing and managing payroll operations for employees accurately and in compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Process and manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for all company employees, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, and special adjustments. Validate payroll data, including hours worked, deductions, and taxes, prior to processing. Compliance Management: Ensure payroll operations comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., overtime laws, wage-hour laws, etc.). Stay informed about changes in tax rates, labor laws, and payroll guidelines to implement appropriate updates. Employee Support: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries, discrepancies, and concerns from employees in a detail oriented and timely manner. Educate employees on payroll processes, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefit contributions. Payroll System Management: Maintain and update payroll information within HRIS or payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or Paylocity. Ensure system data integrity by regularly auditing employee records and payroll reports. Reporting and Reconciliation: Generate and distribute payroll reports, including tax filings, wage and hour summaries, and other related records. Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure adjustments are made for discrepancies in collaboration with the Finance & Accounting team. Benefits and Deductions: Manage employee benefit deductions, garnishments, retirement contributions, and applicable voluntary deductions. Coordinate with the finance or benefits team to reconcile discrepancies in benefit payments. Year-End Processing: Assist in year-end reporting activities, including W-2 preparation, distribution, and filing. Ensure timely handling of tax-related tasks and records. Requirements Qualifications: Education: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Experience: Proven experience (2–4 years) in payroll processing or a similar role. Technical Skills: Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or Paycom, as well as Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis. Knowledge: Solid understanding of payroll principles, federal and state labor laws, tax compliance, and accounting practices. Certifications: Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
