    Description

    Our client is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team today! As a Cost Accountant, you’ll take ownership of project financials—tracking expenditures, analyzing variances, supporting billing, and maintaining accurate WIP (work-in-progress) records. This role is critical for ensuring financial control and forecasting for active construction projects.

     

    + Coordinate with Project Managers to develop, update, and monitor project budgets and WIP schedules

    + Review and verify subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, AIA draw requests

    + Prepare monthly journal entries, GL reconciliations, and support accurate month-end close cycles

    + Analyze cost variances, document trends, and suggest corrective actions to PMs and finance leadership

    + Maintain the WIP ledger and reconcile inventory and cost-subledger balances

    + Support audit readiness by organizing documentation and assisting with internal/external audits

    + Develop and generate cost forecasts, cash flow reports, and financial summaries for stakeholders

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    + 2–5 years of cost or construction accounting experience

    + Proficiency with accounting and ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation)

    + Strong understanding of AIA documents, job costing, inventory valuation, accrual accounting, and GAAP

    + Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, cash flow modeling)

    + Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication
