Description of Work

This role is essential in supporting the NC Ferry Division’s Safety Department by managing and organizing crucial records and documentation. Duties include workers' compensation, tort claims, safety inspections, incident reports, and training sessions. Attention to detail is essential to ensure that all paperwork and records comply with safety standards set by the USCG, OSHA, NCDOL, and internal Ferry Division policies. Additionally, this position plays a key role in planning and executing safety training programs. This includes tracking employee participation and keeping training materials up to date. These efforts will help maintain a safe and compliant work environment, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the Ferry Division.
This position will work out of the Cherry Branch Ferry Operations – Monday through Friday – 8 hours/day.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Management Preferences:
+ Knowledge of record keeping and reporting practices of federal and state governments.
+ Demonstrated ability to recognize unsafe conditions and to determine corrective action necessary.
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
+ Knowledge of computer software to complete tasks including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SAP.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
