When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on advancing our clients’ environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives. We are looking for an early career natural resource professional to support our clients in the Pacific Northwest. Aligned to our Portland, Oregon or Bellevue, Washington office, you’ll participate on projects to help support our clients to adapt and thrive in the face of current and future global sustainability challenges. Your work and contribution may include siting, permitting, construction, maintenance, and federal projects. You'll participate in a combination of field and office work and receive mentorship from our team’s technical experts in evaluating and minimizing project effects on natural resources. You'll be expected to work both independently, as well as part of project teams. As you progress, your growth and increase in responsibility will be recognized and rewarded with commensurate changes in level and compensation.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

    * Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams of biologists, planners, engineers, and other professionals to assemble regulatory compliant environmental reports and permits.

    * Conducting fieldwork including but not limited to wildlife surveys, botanical surveys, habitat assessments for special-status species, and/or aquatic resource delineation surveys.

    * Maintaining excellent communication with project teams.

    * Traveling for fieldwork up to 40% of the time.

    * BS or MS in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science or related scientific discipline.

    * 3 or more years of environmental consulting or agency experience conducting biological surveys, preferably in the Pacific Northwest.

    * Experience performing desktop reviews to determine potential for presence of sensitive natural resources, including special-status species, and assessing the need for field surveys or permits.

    * Familiarity with Federal, State, and local regulations; knowledge of environmental regulatory processes (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act Sections 404/401 permitting, Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultation, Energy Facility Siting Council site certification, and/or Oregon Department of State Lands removal-fill permitting).

    * Strong writing skills and experience preparing technical reports and/or permit application packages.

    * Demonstrated success as both a self-starter and team player.

    * Ability to travel or be in the field for extended periods.

    * The ability to hike up to 10 miles per day occasionally working in rough terrain and challenging weather conditions.

    * Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health and safety policies.

    Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

    * Experience and interest in plant taxonomy and identification.

    * Experience in focused wildlife surveys (nesting birds, raptors including Northern Spotted Owl, small mammals).

    * Experience assisting with aquatic resource surveys and/or wetland delineations.

    * Permitting experience in Oregon, Washington, and/or California.
