Job Description

Technologist III – MSK Commack- Part-Time

We are currently seeking a part-timeLaboratory Technologist III to joinMSKCommack Clinical Laboratories.

Role Overview:

+ Prepare and analyze samples according to written standard protocols; Assist with instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.

+ Operate equipment carefully and according to procedures; Help maintain commonly used equipment and resolve minor equipment problems.

+ Assure equipment and instruments meet performance standards.

+ Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory’s Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures.

+ Perform and maintain competency in the technical and related work of the laboratory.

+ Functions as supervisor in supervisor's absence.

+ Reviews workload and workflow and makes recommendations on procedures to improve efficiency and to respond to changes.

+ Monitors staff activities to assure accurate, thorough completion of work; Notify supervisor of discrepancies and record corrective action taken.

+ Updates procedures when appropriate and assists in writing new technical procedures. Makes recommendations for updating procedure manuals.

+ Assists supervisor to develop, evaluate, modify, and implement new procedures and new products.

+ Learns new instrumentation, reviews preliminary work, and reads relevant literature prior to developing procedures.

+ Compiles data and writes validation, as required.

Key Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree (Medical Technology, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences) required

+ 6+ years of experience required.

+ NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License Required

+ ASCP preferred

Additional Information:

+ Monday and Wednesday, 11AM-7PM with rotating Saturdays.

+ Location: MSK Commack, 650 Commack Rd, Commack, NY

+ Reports into: Manager, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Pay Range:$50.11-$78.21
