As a Site Research Manager and Senior Biologist at the Tennessee Research Farm in Dyersburg, Tennessee you will be responsible for managing, planning, coordinating, and execution of day-to-day operations of the research farm and Crop Protection R&Dinternal and external field biology activities. Youwould also be responsible for the administrative activities for the site such as budget, safety, security and coordinating various components of the Responsible Care (RC) Program as directed by BASF policies. + Leading field test trials at Tennessee Research Farm for the evaluation and development of new crop protection compounds and life cycle management of established crop protection products. Collaborate within APN Biology (US and Canada) and with global Research and Development, Seeds and Traits, Marketing and Technical Service teams in selection of novel crop protection products that qualify for early, late, and full development phases.
+ Ensuring that the data is properly captured and shared with global and regional stakeholders in a timely manner. Research program will effectively generate efficacy and crop safety data to support product registrations and product use directions. Monitoring and providing technical assessment of new technologies and competitor solutions.
+ Participating and make technical presentations in internal meetings and regional scientific conferences.
+ Providing guidance for selection and development of protocols for evaluation of new technologies, digital solutions, and precision application technologies as a project partner with Biology Project Leads based in RTP.
If you have...
+ MS or PhD degree in a related Agricultural, Biological or Plant Protection discipline such as Agronomy / Crop Science / Horticulture / Weed Science. - Minimum of PhD with 5 years related experience or MS degree with 7 years related experience.
+ Knowledge of crop protection research processes/techniques, agronomic and plant protection practices.
+ Experience using standard agriculture equipment including tractors, planters, combines and others as needed to conduct a small plot field research program supporting crop protection products.
+ Technical knowledge and experience in small plot field research, evaluating field trials, data analysis and reporting.
+ Knowledge best management practices for resistance management and other sustainable agricultural practices
+ Working knowledge of North American crop production and herbicide use in crops including corn, cotton, soybean, and rice.
+ Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills with an ability to take complex scientific concepts and translate them into simple messages.Strong listening skills.
+ Practical knowledge of computers and software necessary for communication, data collection / analysis and knowledge sharing.
+ Hands-on experience with R&D studies involving all crop protection disciplines (e.g. herbicide, fungicide, insecticide), Seed and Trait development, nutrient / water management.
+ Understanding of regulatory process and requirements.
+ Ability to translate business needs and priorities into R&D initiatives with specific and sustainable outcomes.
+ Knowledge and familiarity ARM for data collection/analysis
+ Experience managing people and budgets, preferred.
+ Experience managing a research facility, research program, or lab focused on crop protection is desired.
+ Ability to travel up to 15-20% day travel and up to 10% overnight travel, regionally.
