Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician

Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of dairy products through microbiological, chemical, and sensory testing. This position supports daily lab operations, sanitation, and continuous improvement initiatives while upholding the highest standards of food safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Sanitize laboratory equipment and workspaces in accordance with GMP and GLP standards.
+ Prepare and dilute milk samples, including the safe handling of chemicals.
+ Perform microbiological testing (e.g.,
+ E. coli, coliforms, yeast & mold, standard plate count) to verify pasteurization and product safety.
+ Conduct chemical and physical analyses such as butterfat, total solids, titratable acidity, freeze point, phosphatase, and vitamin content.
+ Operate and maintain lab instruments including Foss FT120, Cryoscope, Horiba, pH meters, viscometers, and CEM analyzers.
+ Perform sensory evaluations (visual, olfactory, and taste) of milk, chocolate milk, and ice cream.
+ Conduct water quality testing (e.g., city water) and environmental monitoring (ATP swabs, air and allergen sampling).
+ Label, pack, and coordinate shipment of samples to third-party labs.
+ Maintain accurate records, generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), and ensure compliance with SQF, FDA, and state regulations.
+ Support pre-operational inspections, sanitation checks, and finished product verifications (labels, coding, packaging).
+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and uphold the company’s mission and safety culture.
+ Assist with training, special projects, and other duties as assigned by QA leadership.
Qualifications:
+ Academic or industry experience in microbiology or food science preferred.
+ Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, GLP, and quality assurance systems in a food manufacturing environment.
+ Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
