Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer specializes in directing the development of a standardized fleet maintenance strategy for Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and Super Heated Piping systems. Utilizing risk-based assessment tools, the engineer drives the maintenance strategy to ensure optimal performance across the company.
Responsibilities
+ Establish a continuous collaborative reliability management process for Heat Recovery Steam Generators and Super Heated Piping systems, involving the development of mechanical system Asset Criticality, Failure Mechanisms, Monitoring Plan, Health Indicators, Asset Risk Dashboards, and Recommendation Management.
+ Develop and facilitate the coordinated implementation of a fleetwide predictive monitoring program to support Asset Class Monitoring Plans, enhancing effectiveness and reducing costs through predictive maintenance and innovative monitoring technologies.
+ Facilitate the development and management of recommendations for improvements to the mechanical asset maintenance strategy, including capital projects, outages, operational limitations, and asset condition monitoring and analysis.
+ Provide project engineering leadership on assigned projects at all power stations, ensuring engineering efforts are planned and executed according to schedule, designs are coordinated, and engineering standards and procedures are met.
+ Advise and assist Outage and Project Management personnel in developing engineering specifications, scopes of work, major equipment contracts, project schedules, cost estimates, and project justifications.
+ Facilitate root cause analysis, track reliability metrics, manage changes to mechanical systems, benchmark, and track functional performance and condition of mechanical systems.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years of technical experience with HRSGs, steam turbines, rotating equipment, piping, and valves.
+ Strong understanding of power generation principles, mechanical systems design, operation, and maintenance.
+ Knowledge of Heat Recovery Steam Generators and Super Heated Piping systems from an operational and failure mechanism standpoint.
+ Understanding of welding principles and non-destructive examination methods such as VT, PT, PAUT, MT.
+ Ability to organize, lead, and resolve technical and process problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Minimum of Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college.
+ Preferred Master’s degree in engineering or engineering management.
+ Preferred registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
+ Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical system design, implementation, operation, and maintenance.
+ Preferred 5 years of heavy industrial/power plant engineering/maintenance experience.
+ Working knowledge of reliability centered maintenance practices and continuous improvement practices.
+ Effective leadership and motivation skills to meet organizational goals and personal development needs.
+ Good project management, time management, and communication skills.
Work Environment
The role requires working in a power plant environment for extended periods. Flexibility to work irregular hours, overtime, and meet the demands of the industry is essential.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
