    Job Title: Quality Engineer

    Job Description

    A metal stamping company in West Michigan that supports the furniture and commercial hardware industry is seeking a Quality Engineer to enhance their team.

     

    The role involves supporting 8Ds and APQP activities, including developing PPAP packages, creating PFMEAs and control plans, running 8Ds on current programs to identify inefficiencies, and ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality standards. The Quality Engineer will also lead PFMEA audits and work closely with the manufacturing team.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and manage multiple PPAP submissions, ensuring timely and accurate delivery using customer-specific formats.

    + Participate in APQP meetings and support the development of quality processes, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, and inspection documentation.

    + Develop and maintain PFMEAs and Control Plans, and lead PFMEA audits to ensure process robustness.

    + Run 8D problem-solving processes on current programs to identify root causes, inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.

    + Submit and present PPAP packages for customer review, driving completion to meet deadlines and documentation requirements.

    + Support quality technicians on the floor, answering technical questions related to blueprints.

    + Analyze inspection data using Excel to evaluate dimensional results and make recommendations to customers based on findings.

    + Interface directly with customers, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with quality deliverables.

    + Collaborate with press operators and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and improve part production processes.

    + Monitor tool and shift transitions to ensure adherence to quality processes and prevent defects.

    + Manage engineering changes, ensuring proper documentation, communication, and implementation across teams.

    + Organize and input customer data into internal systems, updating work instructions and maintaining accurate quality records.

    + Track and manage over 20 open quality projects, ensuring progress, accountability, and timely resolution.

    Essential Skills

    + At least 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering.

    + Proficiency in IATF standards.

    + Experience with PPAP - ability to write, review, and submit to customers.

    + Experience in high volume manufacturing in plastics or metals.

    + ERP experience, preferably with Plex.

    + Program management skills.

    + Experience with metal stamping

     

    Work Environment

     

    This is an on-site role with working hours from 8 AM to 5 PM.

     

    The position involves both office and floor work. The company comprises 85 employees, with a dedicated quality team of 5 members.

     

    The role offers growth opportunities, especially for those who have led teams without holding a managerial title.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.87/hr.
