    Job Title: Distribution Field TechnicianJob Description

     

    The Distribution Field Technician is required to report daily to the Kettering, OH office. This role involves conducting field inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment to compile data, prepare minor work orders, and maintain reports on distribution equipment. Responsibilities include measuring and mapping out low voltage distribution systems and identifying electrical equipment on poles.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct visual inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.

    + Compile field data collection, prepare minor work orders, and maintain maintenance reports.

    + Measure and map out low voltage distribution systems.

    + Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.

    + Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, including system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.

    + Collect field data using laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices for input into database software.

    + Develop a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.

    + Operate necessary equipment such as height sticks and range finders to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.

    + Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.

    Essential Skills

    + Data collection and field data analysis.

    + Minimum of a high school diploma; an associate's degree is preferred.

    + Experience in utility locating and distribution design.

    + Knowledge of overhead lines, pole analysis, and low voltage distribution systems.

    + Understanding of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to work with customers, landowners, and clientele to facilitate power utility asset replacements and upgrades.

    + Experience in joint-use make-ready construction.

    + Proficiency in performing design analysis and field work.

    + Capability to manage tasks efficiently to ensure timely data delivery to clients.

    Work Environment

    The work environment requires daily reporting to the Grand Rapids office. After arriving at the office, employees will be assigned to a team leader who will drive them to the day's work location, typically within an hour from the office. The standard work schedule includes four 10-hour days, with the option for five 10-hour days.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
