Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity at our West Milton facility. This role involves designing and building robotic cells and automation systems, requiring knowledge in mechanical design within automation and fabrication environments.

Responsibilities

+ Design and layout robotic cells and automation systems using SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).

+ Collaborate with project managers during quoting and development phases.

+ Design mechanical fixtures, end-of-arm tooling, lighting, guarding, and camera systems.

+ Support robotic installations, including upcoming projects at various facilities.

+ Work closely with customers and vendors, including integration with Fanuc robots.

+ Participate in hands-on assembly and testing of automation cells, with 30% field work and 70% design work.

+ Travel occasionally to customer sites, approximately 5% of the time.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, specifically in automation environments.

+ Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) for mechanical design.

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; Associate degree acceptable with 10+ years of hands-on experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in fabrication and machining environments is highly preferred.

+ General awareness of CNC machines.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, close-knit team with currently 2 engineers at the West Milton site. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager and offers flexible work hours, such as 6 AM–3 PM or 8 AM–5 PM, within a 40-hour work week. There is an emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, with exposure to a variety of projects and technologies

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $58.00/hr.
