    Automation Controls Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Automation Controls Engineer to fulfill project assignments, either individually or as part of a team. This role involves working on multiple projects simultaneously and requires providing engineering details to internal drafting resources for developing drawings. The engineer will be responsible for developing technical documentation and specifications, writing PLC and HMI application software, configuring AC/DC drive equipment, and developing system test plan documents, simulation code, and performing system testing. Coordination with project management, technical leads, and end customers for system commissioning is crucial.

    Responsibilities

    + Program, troubleshoot, and commission for the first 80% of a project.

    + Work on 2-3 projects at a time, collaborating with Project Managers and Design Engineers.

    + Communicate technical information clearly to internal partners and customers.

    + Complete Factory Acceptance Test with customers, demonstrating machinery operation.

    + Disassemble and ship machinery to customer sites.

    + Assist in commissioning equipment and start-up at customer sites.

    Essential Skills

    + Heavy Industrial Automation Experience

    + PLC programming (preferably Allen Bradley, open to Siemens)

    + HMI programming

    + AC/DC motor control

    + Experience in Automation systems and Automation engineering

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Engineering degree or equivalent experience in industrial automation

    + Aptitude in programming/configuring PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE), drives (Siemens, ABB, and Allen Bradley), and/or HMI packages is a plus

    + Experience in metals processing is strongly preferred

    + Willingness to participate in ongoing training for maintaining technical competency

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Word, Excel, and Visio

    + Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

    + Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time

    Work Environment

    This position involves approximately 50% travel with all expenses fully covered. When not traveling, the role is based at a brand new facility, offering amenities such as a gym, locker room, and fully functional kitchen.     Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $53.00/hr.
