    This vacancy is located in the Special Operations Unit of the Office of Louisiana State Police.

    FUNCTION OF WORK:

    The role of the Emergency Response (ER) Administrative Program Specialist A is to serve as the lead professional employee who assists the Statewide Commander Inspector in managing the Emergency Response section. This position acts a liaison between the commissioned troopers conducting ER missions, local, state, and federal departmental heads, the emergency response and first responder community, and the general public. The ER Administrative Program Specialist A utilizes a strong understanding of federal and state laws, regulations, and departmental policies, along with sound judgement, to provide guidance and direction.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Three years of experience in administrative services; OR

    Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

    A bachelor's degree.

    EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    Performs responsible duties related to the proper operation, coordination, and management of at least two of the following administrative functions:

    Oversees the purchasing needs and budgetary reporting for approximately ten million dollars across the section's units, which include operations for departmental or statewide programs such as Air Support and Crisis Response. This encompasses aircraft maintenance, furl expenditures, aircraft equipment, and the facilitation of SWAT equipment and maintenance.

     

    Ensures compliance with established contracts, including, but not limited to, contracts with Million Air in Pineville, LA, and the Division of Aircraft Services, including managing contract record retention and responding to public requests.

     

    Coordinates Emergency Response Section program information by maintaining databases, generating reports, and ensuring information integrity; may require presentation of information in workshops, meetings, etc.

     

    Performs other projects and tasks assigned by the Commander Inspector of Special Operations.

     

    Manages all paperwork associated with Emergency Response personnel, including timekeeping, personnel actions, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) matters, performance planning and evaluations, and extra duty pay details. Ensure all documents are professionally adequate before submission to the Chain of Command.

     

    Notify state police supervisors or responders of incident reports and updates as necessary.
