    The Norfolk Community Services Board (NCSB) provides treatment, support, and education to the community with a focus on mental illness, substance use addiction, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Norfolk CSB provides services to persons in acute crisis as well as integrated, person-centered, and recovery-oriented programming for persons needing assistance and support stabilizing in the community.

     

    Today, the NCSB provides treatment and rehabilitation services to over 6,000 Norfolk citizens yearly. Norfolk CSB seeks team members interested in providing skilled services in a public service environment.     The NCSB is seeking a passionate and dedicated Clinician to join our Same Day Access team! In this role, you will conduct multidimensional biopsychosocial assessments of those individuals seeking to access needed psychiatric, medical, substance use, social education, vocational, and other support necessary to meet basic needs.     Departmental Hiring Salary Range: $54,601-$62,791

    Essential Functions

    Essential functions include but are not limited to:

    + Provides comprehensive assessments for persons with substance abuse and or co-occurring disorders.

    + Develop individualized treatment plans which respond to the needs of the person served and their family as identified by the assessment.

    + Participates in case reviews as a member of the inter-disciplinary team, as needed.

    + Determines from assessments the appropriate services to be provided, the most appropriate services providers, and ensures that the person served is linked with those services.

    + Provides individual, group and family counseling services as outlined in each treatment plan.

    + Provides crisis counseling on an as needed basis.

    + Teaches psycho-educational classes and revises curriculum as needed.

    + Keeps up to date, well documented records which comply with Federal, State, and agency requirements

    + Monitors persons receiving services from other service providers and advocates for the person to ensure accessibility and acceptability of services.

    + Collects and reports, service statistics and data on persons served as required.

    + Processes admissions and discharges in an appropriate and timely manner in accordance with agency standards.

    + Participates in regular supervision as agreed upon with their direct supervisor and consults with other team members.

    + Assists in the development and implementation of special projects, e.g. specialized groups, etc.

    + Conduct regular and random drug screens and Breathalyzers.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience

    Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through six years of college resulting in a Master's degree or equivalent in a human services field.

     

    Two years' experience in a human services field, preferably in the treatment of mental illness or substance abuse co-occurring disorders; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Three years' experience preferred.

     

    Additional Information & Requirements

     

    + VA Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker.

    + Must be certified or certifiable in Basic First Aid and CPR.

    + Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.

    + Regular full-time and permanent part-time employees may receive paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, employer paid pension plan, basic life insurance, voluntary participation in medical and dental, Section 457 deferred compensation, long-term disability, optional life insurance for self, spouse and children, medical and dependent care reimbursement plans, access to membership in credit union and employer provided parking.

    + Special project/grant employees are generally eligible for the same benefits of regular full-time employees; however, retirement, life insurance and participation in health plans vary depending upon funding and authorization.

    + Temporary/seasonal and part-time employees are generally only eligible for employer provided parking and access to membership in credit union.

    + Retirement

     

    If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

     

    If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

     

    + The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
