    HOUSEKEEPER/PORTER

    We are excited to invite a passionate and experienced Housekeeper/Porter to join our team! Homes for the Homeless (HFH) is searching for a Housekeeper/Porter for our Families w/ Children facility located in the Hell’s Kitchen area of Manhattan, NY. As the Housekeeper/Porter, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, ensuring a clean, well-maintained, and safe environment for our families in the facility.     ABOUT HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS:

    Homes for the Homeless operates shelters for families experiencing homelessness in NYC. Our family residences are more than just a place to sleep. Families can make the most of their stay through accessing an array of onsite programs. Many of these programs are also available to people living in the local community. Our goal is to have a positive impact so families can thrive long after they leave our shelters.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Clean hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.

    + Vacuum, sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines.

    + Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.

    + Dust and disinfect furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.

    + Perform garbage-related tasks as assigned.

    + Complete unit turnover tasks.

    + Perform light painting as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Experience in custodial work.

    + Familiar with the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.

    + Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift to 60 pounds.

    + Be able to stand for long periods (up to 9 hours).
