    Job Description

    What You'll Do

    + Perform transmission protection and control (P&C) engineering activities for 4kV thru 765KV electrical substation projects.

    + Prepare or review P&C engineering and designs, review project scopes and cost estimates, and participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control for assigned projects.

    + Provide engineering support for project installation, commissioning, checkout and troubleshooting.

    + Model transmission system impedances and perform short circuit relay coordination analysis.

    + Perform area protection studies and develop relay settings for existing and new transmission line and station protection schemes.

    + Perform activities related to NERC P&C standards. Contribute to development of system-wide protection standards for transmission and distribution station protection, metering and control applications.

    + 5% of time spent on domestic travel, occasional overnight.

    What We're Looking For:

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in an ABET* accredited electrical engineering program and 3 years of experience as an engineer must include:

    + Station protective settings, including circuit breaker control, distribution transformers, and capacitor banks.

    + Protection and Control project construction and commissioning support for projects ranging up to 4.16kV or 115kV.

    + Developing P&C and Station OneLine Diagrams, schematics, wiring and logic diagrams utilizing MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar software.

    + Line settings for implementation on microprocessor relays, electromechanical relays and solid-state relays for systems up to 345kV, settings work to include communication aided schemes, step distance, overcurrent, mutually coupled lines and misoperations and event analysis experience.

    + P&C project scope development for projects ranging from 4.16kV to 345kV.

    + Applying NERC Reliability Standards for system protection.

    + Applying ANSI and IEEE standards pertaining to electrical power systems.

     

    Alternatively, a master’s degree from a university with an ABET* accredited bachelor’s degree program in electrical engineering and 1 year of experience as specified above is acceptable.

     

    *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Non-ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering must be accompanied by a master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor degree program in electrical engineering. Non-ABET accredited advanced degrees in electrical engineering must be from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor degree program in electrical engineering.

    What you’ll get:

    Compensation Range: $115,330 to $134,551 annually
