Job Summary:
The Pattern Maker is responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing patterns, core boxes, and tooling used in the sand casting process. This role requires precision craftsmanship, knowledge of materials, and the ability to interpret technical drawings to create patterns that meet dimensional and quality specifications for metal castings.

Key Responsibilities:
• Build new patterns and core boxes using wood, plastic, metal, or composite materials according to engineering specifications.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, CAD files, technical drawings, or verbal instructions.
• Repair, recondition, and modify existing patterns and tooling as needed.
• Ensure patterns meet dimensional tolerances and gating system design required for efficient mold filling and casting quality.
• Use hand tools, power tools, CNC equipment, and woodworking/machining equipment safely and effectively.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and foundry teams to resolve design or process issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pattern shop.
• Track time and materials used for each job and report progress to supervisors.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.

Qualifications:
Required:
• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of experience in pattern making, woodworking, or related manufacturing field
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)
• Strong understanding of shrinkage allowances, parting lines, and draft angles in castings
Preferred:
• Experience with CNC programming or operation (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)
• Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping
• Experience in aerospace or defense casting environments
• Certification or vocational training in pattern making, tool and die, or related fields

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and work with tools for extended periods
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
