The Work You Will Do:
Engineering Section Manager / District Seven / Director of Trans Operations / District Maintenance / Districtwide Bridge Inspection & Repair
Manages and supervises the Structures Maintenance Engineering group (in-house design, consultant project management, load rating, work program for structure repairs and replacement). Motivates, provides training, provides direction, establishes goals and meets regularly with staff. Assists Structures Maintenance Engineer with assigned duties and responsibilities. Coordinates with Local government and other agencies as needed.

Anticipated Salary Rate:

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Manages and supervises the Structures Maintenance Engineering group (in-house design, consultant project management, load rating, work program for structure repairs and replacement). Motivates, provides training, provides direction, establishes goals and meets regularly with staff. Assists Structures Maintenance Engineer with assigned duties and responsibilities. Coordinates with Local government and other agencies as needed.
Oversees all repair designs for structures. Responsible for consultant selection, evaluation and coordination on repair projects. Responsible for scope development including field review, task assignment, negotiations and contract management.
Manages the Work Program. Programs, tracks and assures all deadlines are met on projects in the Work Program. Coordinates with State and District Work Program Offices. Oversees the development of the Bridge Work Plan (BWP), programs repair and replacement projects.
Oversees Asset Maintenance projects. Assures scope compliance and invoice accuracy.
Acts as the professional engineer in responsible charge on selected projects. This requires incumbent to sign and seal documents as needed.
Supervises the staff in the load rating of all bridges. Assures all bridges have an accurate and complete load rating.
Supervises staff in the maintenance of structure databases and filing systems.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT) SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS.
FDOT/FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION (FHWA) BRIDGE INSPECTION REGULATIONS.
Skills in:
SUPERVISING AND MANAGING PEOPLE IN A TACTFUL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
PUBLIC SPEAKING, WRITTEN AND VERBAL COMMUNICATION, AND ACTIVE LISTENING.
DEALING WITH THE PUBLIC, CONSULTANTS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND REGULATORY AGENCIES TO MAINTAIN AN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIP.
USING ENGINEERING TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND/OR INSTRUMENTS.
EFFECTIVELY INTERPRETING DEPARTMENT RULES AND PROCEDURES AS IT RELATES TO THE MANAGEMENT OF THE BRIDGE INSPECTION, BRIDGE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM.

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:
Registered as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471 F.S.
