• Phlebotomist - flex full time

    Join UPMC Northwest – Seneca as a Flex Full-Time Phlebotomist!Be a vital part of a team-focused department, performing accurate phlebotomy and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients. Support lab operations with essential clerical, computer, and courier tasks, making a real impact on patient care every day.

    Responsibilities:

    + provide courteous, professional interaction with all laboratory customers and respond promptly to telephone inquiries.

    + Collect blood specimens via venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick following proper patient identification; instruct patients on specimen collection as needed.

    + Demonstrate reliability, independent judgment, and prioritize tasks to meet departmental needs.

    + Perform specimen collection at off-site locations and safely transport samples to the lab.

    + Follow all laboratory and hospital policies, including safety, quality control, and infection prevention protocols.

    + Complete clerical duties such as data entry, test ordering, cancellations, and billing using lab information systems.

    + Train and orient new employees, students, and residents as assigned.

    + Report any unusual or problematic incidents to technical staff or supervisors.

    + Perform arterial punctures when required, adhering to strict guidelines.

    + Monitor and maintain supply inventory, ensuring cost-effective use of materials and reagents

     

    REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent

    PREFERRED:

    Certification from an accredited Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program is preferred.

     

    Minimum 6 months experience performing phlebotomy is preferred.

     

    Medical terminology knowledge and laboratory information system experience preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
