Job Summary
The Senior Payroll Accountant is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing for approximately 250 employees on a weekly basis. This standalone role ensures accurate and timely multi-state payroll processing, maintains payroll records, ensures compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. The Senior Payroll Accountant will have experience in general accounting and a strong understanding of GAAP and will complete weekly Payroll entries in the ERP system, perform monthly payroll and benefit reconciliations, and administer Ramp, our expense reporting system. The Senior Payroll Accountant will have the skill set and desire to continuously improve systems and processes and be a trusted resource for our employees. This position is critical in supporting the company’s rapid growth and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Job Duties and Responsibilities
+ Process weekly multi-state payroll for union, hourly, and salaried employees accurately and on time
+ Maintain payroll records, reports, and data integrity in compliance with federal and state regulations
+ Handle garnishments, deductions, and payroll tax filings
+ Partner with HR to ensure proper benefit deductions and employee records alignment
+ Lead payroll and benefit related journal entries and reconciliations
+ Administer expense reporting system in alignment with company policies
+ Support potential integration of payroll into Epicor ERP
+ Create custom reports in the payroll system to support Finance and other business partners
+ Identify and implement payroll process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
+ Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll data and employee information
+ Maintain and document internal controls, policies, and procedures
+ Complete other payroll or accounting special projects as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent payroll and accounting experience
+ Minimum of 7 years of payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll
+ Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, garnishments, deductions, and payroll tax filings
+ Experience processing both hourly and salaried payrolls
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet tight deadlines
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality associated with payroll and financial data
Additional Skills and Experience
+ CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
+ Paycom experience, Ramp experience
+ Experience in a manufacturing environment
