    **Summary** :

     

    UNC Clinical Research Partners (UNC CRP) is a newly established clinical research joint venture between UNC Health and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Led by the UNC Health Chief Clinical Research Officer, UNC CRP is designed to accelerate and grow industry-sponsored clinical research at UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Health.

     

    The **Director of Administration** will directly report to and support the UNC Health Chief Clinical Research Officer in leading the integrated clinical research operations of UNC CRP. In this capacity, this position will be responsible for establishing a unified, consistent, and cost-effective approach to conducting clinical trials across the UNC Health System to facilitate growth and expansion of clinical research in all fields of medicine across the healthcare system. This role will work as part of the leadership team to oversee the establishment of UNC CRP, set the strategic direction for the organization, optimize and expand clinical operations, and enable expansion of partnerships with industry, foundation, federal, and other partners.

     

    **Responsibilities** :

    **Operations** : Serve as the day-to-day clinical trials research operations director across UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Health and UNC SOM. Establish and manage an efficient and compliant environment for conducting clinical trials within UNC Health and UNC Chapel Hill that advances the UNC Clinical Research Partner’s strategic goals Lead large complex initiatives on behalf of UNC Clinical Research Partners and/or the Chief Clinical Research Officer. Advise and support the Chief Clinical Research Officer in advancing UNC CRP goals with partners and internal stakeholders. Develop and implement clinical research policies that align with existing UNC Health and UNC Chapel Hill policies and that enable seamless clinical operations across the system. Oversee identification, evaluation, and implementation of tools, technologies, and methodologies to optimize UNC Clinical Research Partner operations. Lead identification of operational KPIs and define performance targets to meet organizational performance goals.

    **Stakeholder Engagemen** t: Partner with the Subject Matter Expertise (SME) Executive Committee, UNC SOM Departments, and UNC Health clinical researchers to ensure clinical research operations effectively support partner research efforts. In partnership with UNC CRP’s Chief Legal Counsel, support and advise UNC CRP Board of Managers. Collaborate with communications partners at UNC Health, UNC Chapel Hill, and UNC SOM regarding CRP communications strategy and content. Engage with current and new industry and other sponsors to define clinical trial operational requirements, promote and optimize UNC Clinical Research Partner performance, and effectively establish UNC as a premier clinical trials partner. Collaborate with leadership across UNC Health to develop clinical research site expansion strategies and support establishment and monitor performance of clinical trial operations in new and establish system locations.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., life sciences, healthcare, business). Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, PhD) preferred.

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    • None required.

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience, with at least three (3)years of management experience.

    • Requires significant experience in clinical research, with demonstrated leadership roles or responsibilities.

    • Requires experience in managing large, multi-functional teams.

    • Requires experience working in or knowledge of public entities, higher education, or other similar large and complex organizations.

    • Prefer significant experience in clinical trial operations leadership.

    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

    • Leadership: Proven experience in managing large, multi-functional teams in a clinical research setting. Proven track record of successfully managing clinical trials from start to finish.

    • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.

    • Decision-Making: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and make informed decisions in a timely manner.

    • Financial Management: Experience in developing and managing clinical operations budgets to ensure cost-effective use of resources.

    • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines with experience managing teams/organizations to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

    • Commitment to Quality: Experience in implementing or improving processes to reach or maintain high standards of quality and excellence in clinical trial execution.
