GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Vendor Compliance Technician will report to the Supplier and Raw Material Manager. The Vendor Compliance Technician’s primary role is to ensure that all vendors’ documents are requested, reviewed against FreshRealm’s food safety standards, and all certifications and documents are kept current. This role will also help maintain supplier performance indicator documentation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Daily review of vendor documents in TraceGains to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and FreshRealm policies and expectations.
• Identify, document and communicate potential food safety risks within suppliers’ food safety programs, such as sanitation, environmental monitoring, allergen control, HACCP, cooking and cooling validation, foreign material controls, pest control, chemical control and supplier and ingredient approvals.
• Conduct desk audits of supplier’s documents to check for compliance with FreshRealm’s food safety standards for ready-to-cook, ready-to-heat and ready-to-eat programs.
• Seek and identify ways to continuously improve food safety strategies within vendor compliance and FreshRealm.
• Collect and maintain documents and certificates for special programs, such as organic, gluten-free, sustainability, kosher, non-GMO, and other relevant claims as needed.
• Assist in monitoring and tracking USDA and FDA recalls, regulations, warning letters and trends related to food suppliers and food ingredients.
• Assist in receiving, organizing and maintaining certificates of analysis from suppliers.
• Assist with supplier non-conformance reporting, as needed
• Communicate approvals or rejections to stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
• Assist Team with process improvement and data management, including working on ad hoc projects as necessary
• Contribute to projects in area of responsibility.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Requirements
• Knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act regulations, food safety, ready to eat (RTE), listeria and pathogen prevention, and risk assessment
• Positive and self-starter attitude with a strong sense of urgency
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Strong knowledge and applicable skills in using Microsoft
• TraceGains experience preferred, but not required
• Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within the team and with cross-functional partners
• Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of food safety and food microbiology
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to embrace change and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline required.
• Proficiency in FDA and USDA food safety regulations.
• Minimum 2-4 years experience in quality assurance, food safety, food distribution, food manufacturing, food supply chain, or related field

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
