    Overview

     

    The certified athletic trainer (ATC) is responsible for providing safe, high quality athletic training services that delivers optimal outcomes for athletes. They provide sports-related education to hospital staff, students, athletes and the community. They promote efficiency and improvement of operations within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Science/Sports Medicine Center. Athletic trainers (ATs) use current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve athletic training care quality. ATs deliver care in a customer friendly way consistent with the philosophy, mission, vision and values of the Department and organization. The Premium PRN program was developed to increase coverage for Athletic Trainer services. Individuals working in an Athletic Trainer Premium PRN position must meet specific requirements and fulfill defined work commitments in order to remain in the position.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

    Responsibilities

    + Provides safe, high quality, athletic training services that delivers optimal outcomes for athletes.

    + Provides sports-related education to hospital staff, students, athletes and the community. a.Provides education on sports injuries, prevention and care. b.Provides patient/athlete and family education regarding use of crutches, cast and splint care, skin assessment, and home exercises. c.Participates in promoting continuing educational opportunities for the community. d.Provides input to Communications and Marketing to assist in the development of educational information and implementation of strategies to promote Sports Medicine services in the community. e.Participates in educational teaching opportunities as needed. f.Participates in the education of athletic training students with established partnerships of accredited athletic training programs.

    + Promotes efficiency and improvement of operations within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Science/Sports Medicine Center.

    + Uses current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve athletic training care quality.

    + Delivers care in a customer friendly way consistent with the philosophy, mission, vision and values of the Department and organization.

    + The Athletic Trainer Premium PRN must fulfill the work commitments outlined in the Premium PRN policy.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree Degree in Athletic Training and

    + No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training

    + Previous work as a high school athletic trainer is preferred.

    + Graduate Assistant education as a certified athletic trainer may count towards experience.

    + Certified Athletic Trainer NAT

    + ATC NAT Certified Athletic Trainer NAT National Athletic Training Certification through the Board of Certification Required Upon Hire

    + Certified Athletic Trainer KS

    + Employees must obtain Certified Athletic Trainer KS or equivalent within 90 days

    + Certified Athletic Trainer MO

    + Employees must obtain Certified Athletic Trainer MO or equivalent within 90 days

    Starting Pay

     

    Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $41.52/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

     

    Remote Work/Work from Home

     

    This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
