    Become a Grid System Operator 1 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll work in the SCE Grid Control Center on a team with a lead Grid System Operator with the collective responsibility for ensuring SCE electrical system reliability. To ensure reliable operations, you will monitor the system using the Energy Management System and various related applications and provide functional direction to SCE substation system operators.     Responsibilities

    + Monitors system conditions and real-time systems data to ensure electric system operations reliability

    + Prepares and delivers system event reports and updates, participating in event analysis and internal reviews to drive continuous improvement

    + Tracks interconnected system conditions during normal and emergency situations, analyzing system operating limits and taking corrective action to mitigate contingencies

    + Facilitates scheduled and unscheduled electrical system outages, investigates equipment failures and oversees corrective maintenance to prevent recurrences

    + Directs changes in electrical components to ensure system integrity

    + Determines appropriate system adjustments and load shedding to respond to emergencies, complying with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) reliability standards

    + Maintains accurate and up-to-date operations logs, switching orders, clearance procedures, and other operational documentation

    + Activates notification protocols to inform management of system events

    + Employees hired into Trans Ops Planning & Analysis department, must be able to pass the NERC PER-005 assessment with 12 months of hire

    + A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Three or more years of experience in electric system operations.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.

    + Experience with Southern California Edison (SCE) bulk power transmission, subtransmission and distributions systems.

    + Experience analyzing electric system operating conditions by utilizing advanced computer applications.

    + Experience with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC) and California Independent System Operator (ClSO) operating policies/practices/procedures.

    + Certified NERC System Operator at the reliability coordinator level.

    Additional Information

    + This position's work mode is on-site. The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

    + The primary work location for this position is (Alhambra). However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work periodically at the alternate Grid Control Center location (Irvine).

    + This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

    + Relocation does not apply to this position.
