    Outreach is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of PT Siblings Counselor at our adolescent residential treatment facility located in Brentwood, Long Island. The Siblings Counselor is responsible for providing supportive counseling services to the siblings of the residents of Outreach House II. The schedule for this position is Wednesday, 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

     

    The Siblings Counselor is responsible for providing supportive counseling services to the siblings of the residents. The counselor is responsible for overseeing the health and welfare of residents' families. The counselor provides information about addiction and how to overcome addiction.

    What You Will Do:

    + Facilitate siblings’ group to increase knowledge of addiction and create an active. Participation in the family process of growth and change.

    + Increase self-esteem and knowledge about anger and anger management.

    + Provide the opportunity and emphasize the importance of sharing feelings and instill hope.

    + Provide the opportunity for the children to understand that they are not alone, learn from peers, and become connected to a group in a fun/social/educational environment.

    + Create a feeling of safety, non-judgmental atmosphere and provide the children with time to be themselves, to feel special.

    + Role model appropriate behavior, model the importance of listening and good communication.

    + Forward assessments to supervisor to facilitate greater understanding of family dynamics.

    + Forward any significant information that may be needed for helping the treatment of the residents via the SAC book.

    + Prepare curriculum for group via surveying appropriate books, making copies, etc.

    + Assisting family department with assigned tasks as needed.

    Who You Are:

    + CASAC-T, CASAC, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC

    + 1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.

    + 1 year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems.

    + 1 year of experience working in in an OASAS funded facility a plus

    + Experience with family therapy & Substance Abuse Counselor

    + Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures.

    + Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance clinicians, set, and achieve program objectives.

    + Strong networking and public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, populations, and cultures.

    + Position requires standing for long periods of time to ensure proper floor supervision of clients.

    + Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.

    + Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

    + Bilingual Spanish a plus.

     

    Work Environment

     

    This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
