    THE POSITION

    If you have a strong desire to help others and impart your skills and knowledge, we have an exciting opportunity for you at the Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual well-versed in warehouse operations and material handling to join our team.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Service Occupations Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing vocational instruction for inmates at SCI Albion. Your responsibilities will include not only teaching warehouse operations and material handling but also evaluating and placing students in appropriate programs, adapting materials to meet individual needs, and administering tests and evaluations. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining classroom order and addressing any disruptive behavior in a professional and appropriate manner. Your role in shaping the vocational education of inmates is essential to their rehabilitation and future success.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

    + Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical;or

    + If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.

    + Please Note: The specified parenthetical for this posting is Warehouse Operations/Material Handling. There is no approved apprenticeship period for this parenthetical.

    Special Requirements:

    + You must be in p ossession of or have eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate 1 or 2 for the specified parenthetical;or

    + You must be in p ossession of or have eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or

    + You must have e ligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.

    Condition of Employment:

    + You must maintain the minimum teaching certification for the specified parenthetical as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's current regulations.

    + Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
