    Job Description

    The Case Aide provides direct support to the In-School Youth Team to facilitate the Refugees Empowering Peers (REP) mentoring program and support with school enrollments. Assisting the youth team in the provision of after-school and summer high school mentoring services, at Sacramento region high schools, including implementing REP curriculum lessons, providing small group mentoring with youth clients, language and cultural support, and providing communication with caregivers and families.

     

    Additionally, this role will support families in enrolling students into school, educating families on school protocols and norms in the United States, and connecting families to community resources. Providing language assistance (interpreting) when requested, if appropriate and other duties as needed.

    Major Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing language, Pashto, and cultural support for youth assessments, individual service plans, and goal mapping and communication support for caregivers/families

    • Providing interpretation for both individuals and cohorts or clients

    • Attending pre and post session planning and debrief meetings

    • Being present at REP mentoring sessions, located on specific Sacramento high school campuses

    • Sending reminders to youth and families about program events and meetings

    • Supporting lessons and implementation of REP curriculum including leading activities and interpretation when needed

    • Meeting with a small group of youth to go over action items from lesson plans and review youth goal maps as they relate to lesson of the day

    • Creating a safe and healing environment for youth

    • Assisting the In-School Youth Specialist in troubleshooting any challenges in youth attendance and communication to youth/caregivers

    • Assisting the In-School Youth Specialist in building relationships with teacher and school administration

    • Collaborating effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Building and maintaining relationships with area service providers for the benefit of clients.

    • Completing online enrollment for students into schools and coordinating all necessary documentation with families and schools

    • Conducting School Orientation Home Visits with families to share the Parent School Guide, Student School Guide, implement Virtual Reality tour, connect family to resources, and answer any questions the family may have

    • Complete all necessary case notes and documentation to document services occurred in a timely fashion utilizing ETO or other services trackers

    • Using personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.

    • Provide translation services of written documents and text.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Key Working Relationships:

    • Position Reports to: Youth Program Coordinator

    • Other Internal and/or external contacts:

    o Internal: IRC Employees, interns, volunteers

    o External: Community partners and school districts

    Job Requirements:

    • Education: High school diploma.

    • Work Experience: Prior experience working with youth or being served by IRC as a client.

    • Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Demonstrated success achieving goals and communicating cross-culturally. Demonstrated ability, willingness, and confidence interpreting both one-on-one, and in group and large classroom settings if needed. Must be a team player, detail oriented, patient, professional, and reliable. Must exhibit professionalism across communication methods: call, texts, emails, in-person. Must be responsive to requests and feedback. Flexible, on-call schedule, including evening availability.

    • Language Skills: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Pashto and ability to type in both English and Pashto.

    • Translation Skills: ability to translate written documents from English into Pashto.

    • Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.

    Working Environment:

    • A combination of time at high school sites and standard office environment along with remote work.

    • Early evening work typically ending around 6 PM.

    • Summer work will be during the day, 8A-1P

     

    Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
