The Position

Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.

Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

This position is located within the Structures Division, Carson City. Incumbent manages the development of structural design projects including the preparation of design calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates. Incumbent also provides technical direction and support for the design, construction and maintenance of transportation related structures; coordination and oversight of in-house structural designs, engineering analysis and problem solving; development and management of staff; administration of consultant design and experimental research contracts; review and critique of plans and calculations, and the inspection of existing structures and active construction projects. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Notes

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.

Special Requirements

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
