APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $70,282.08 to $104,713.20 PAY GRADE: 37
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. SPECIAL NOTE: Candidates shall be able to demonstrate they are actively working on obtaining Professional Engineering license in the State of Nevada and shall obtain a Professional Engineering license within one year of appointment, unless this timeframe gets modified at the discretion of the appointing authority. If US education evaluation is not attached, degree will not be recognized.
This position is located in the Traffic Operations Division in Carson City as part of the Signals, Lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) section and functions as Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) Engineer. This position assists in the development and management of ITS-related strategies that support TSMO functions and/or relate to performance targets. This includes integrating vetted modern technology into Signals, Lighting, and ITS (SLI) design through system engineering practices to support TSMO strategies. This position will also provide engineering, design support, and project management functions for the SLI section during scoping, preliminary engineering, and construction. Responsibilities include assisting in specifications writing and technical research while following federal, state, local, industry and department standards and guidance. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
