Senior Microbiome Data Scientist
We are seeking a highly skilled innovator with deep microbiome data science experience to join our computational biology team in dsm-firmenich's Data Science unit. Our team is at the forefront of converting a deep understanding of microbiome function into actionable insights for health, nutrition and beauty by leveraging AI and modeling algorithms with high dimensional molecular data.
This role offers the opportunity to drive interdisciplinary science projects that integrate the latest advances in computational biology, data science, AI and microbiome data while working in close collaboration with leading domain experts in the field of nutrition, health, beauty and life sciences.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Discover microbiome data-based insights and translate these into value for dsm-firmenich’s nutrition, health and beauty segments
+ Develop and implement computational methods to deliver cutting-edge microbiome innovation
+ Contribute to the development and adoption of best practices and common computational tools by our global community of microbiome scientists
+ Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in computational biology, microbiome research, AI and modeling.
+ Apply modern tools such as git, AWS, Docker, relational data models, cloud-native computing and API endpoints in your daily work.
+ Team-up with other data scientists and life science experts around the globe to drive project success

You bring:
+ Ph.D. or similar experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
+ 5-8 years of additional academic or industrial work experience in bioinformatics and computational biology, ideally in the microbiome field.
+ Record of accomplishments demonstrating high drive and keen entrepreneurial innovation.
+ Strong skills in scientific programming languages (Python/R) and its data science libraries.
+ Deep understanding of methods to analyze microbiome data and forward-looking interests in developing novel approaches.
+ Hands-on experience with AWS services and bioinformatic workflow languages.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
+ Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts.
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $128,700- $175,000.
