Overview
This position is responsible for managing media relations and social media for LG&E and KU, including enhancing the company image and reputation among employees and external stakeholders. Serves as a media spokesperson for the company and has an extensive network of relationships within the Kentucky and trade media. In addition, this role is responsible for maintaining client relationships and significant initiatives to ensure the team accomplishes its goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
•Manages and implements communication strategies that enhance the company’s image and reputation among key stakeholders. Ensures messages communicated externally are consistent and align with LG&E and KU’s organizational and brand values.
•Oversees the day-to-day activities of media relations, including strategic planning; media relations/activities; print and broadcast information; public relations activities, native content and press releases.
•Develops, coordinates and executes communication plans that support key business initiatives and strategies. Oversees researching, writing, editing and managing the creation, approval and distribution of communication materials.
•Manages a team of media spokespersons, serves as one of the media spokespersons and oversees responses to media inquiries. Provides on-call, after-hours media support on a rotating basis.
•Supports LG&E and KU’s social media content for the company’s various social media channels, including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Nextdoor, YouTube and other social media platforms to help educate and inform stakeholders about key energy issues. Helps develop proactive media and social media exposure.
•Oversees the coordination with the company’s social customer care team to determine what response, if any, should be initiated especially during crisis situations and major events. Coordinates with department members and management to bolster the company’s online presence and enhance its reputation.
•Oversees the day-to-day operation of the company’s Family Connection Facebook site. Includes oversight and coordination of the development of content and monitoring of posts by employees, retirees and family members.
•Provides support to senior management. Includes executive management presentation development and appearance handling.
•Oversees communication activities for key business initiatives and current issues that have a major impact on the business and its customers, such as safety, the environment, affordability and other regulatory activities and reliability.
•Provides proactive, effective communications support and counsel to in-house clients. Successful client relationships require regular attendance at staff meetings, learning the client's business needs and communications challenges, developing internal and external stories and other communications about initiatives/programs for clients' various audiences (employees, customers, media, community), and managing special projects.

Qualifications
_Required Education_
Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism or related field
Required Experience
+ 5+ years of media-related experience
+ Must have on-camera experience and strong writing and speaking skills.
+ Must possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
+ Requires strong organizational skills, time management, multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize within restrictive time deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong knowledge of utility operations and relationships with the Kentucky media. Experience managing a group(s) of individuals.
_Required Education_
Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism or related field
Required Experience
