    Job Title: Company Police OfficerLocation: Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical CenterSchedule: Full-Time, 12 hr shifts, 7:00 - 7:00, alternating weekends

     

    Overview:As a Public Safety Officer with NHRMC Company Police at Novant Health, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, and staff. Working under the direct supervision of a Shift Supervisor or Lieutenant, you’ll enforce state laws, hospital policies, and support public safety initiatives across the campus.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Enforce North Carolina General Statutes and hospital policies in a professional and ethical manner

    + Deter criminal activity and respond to security-related incidents

    + Ensure the safety and protection of all patients, staff, visitors, and NHRMC property

    + Maintain situational awareness and respond promptly to emergency calls

    + Support hospital operations by contributing to a secure, orderly environment

    + Complete additional duties as assigned by leadership

    Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred.

    + Experience:

    + Graduation from a NC Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) school, or an out-of-state equivalent, is required. Possession of a current North Carolina probationary or general certification is preferred. All NC and out-of-state candidates must qualify for and be commissioned under Chapter 74E, The NC Company Police Act, within one year of employment, required.

    + Minimum of one year in a law enforcement/security capacity or healthcare related environment, preferred.

    + An applicant within 90 days of graduating from a qualified BLET course may be hired to this position at the discretion of the Chief of Police, Novant Health Company Police.

    + Licensure/Certification:

    + Company Police Agency: Sworn position IAW NC General Statutes Chapter 74E. Must be eligible and obtain certification as Company Policy Officer within (1) year from hire date, required.

    + American Heart Association HS (Heart Saver), required.

    + NC Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification is required if not sworn officer at the time of hire, required.

    + CPR/AED, required.

    + IAHSS Security Officer Certification is required within one year of hire, required.
