Provides clinical and administrative leadership at the unit level.
Responsibilities
Leadership: Works in partnership with Nurse Manager and other leaders to create, support and maintain a culture of professional accountability. Grows and nurtures team members. Creates and maintains a healthy work environments that results in improved patient outcomes, retention, and organizational excellence. Facilitates decision making within the department. Acts with honesty and integrity with team members and patients/families, showing and speaking with respect for the rights of others, human dignity, and diversity. Makes decisions in a timely manner. Coordinates the provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management and organizational skills. Utilizes the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, Novant Health Nursing Practice Model – Duffy’s The Quality - Caring Model©, evidence based practice and guidelines from formal nursing organizations as the foundation for nursing practice. Assures that team members provide care that is consistent with The Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements. Actively participates in unit practice and best practice committees. Promotes collegial relationships with physicians and other professional groups. Removes barriers for team to assure optimal patient safety and satisfaction. Meets and maintains requirements of a Registered Nurse. Develops and implements plan for self-development in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing or Nurse Executive to identify opportunities for succession planning. Identifies opportunities for service recovery; assists with promoting collegial relationships with ancillary/support departments within the organization.
Qualifications
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
+ Bachelor's degree in nursing- BSN preferred.
+ Current valid North Carolina nursing license required.
+ Two years of relevant experience required.
+ Prior demonstrated nursing leadership preferred.
